Pre Shoot in a Park.
Abi and Matt were unsure where to have their pre wedding photo shoot and I was so pleased when they were happy to take me up on the suggestion of having it done in Pounds Park in Plymouth. I first discovered this lovely space last summer while on a walk with my family. It has many different types of trees dotted around the park and trees are genuinely my favourite props (is props the right word) to shoot with. The different types of trees meant there were a variety of interesting locations to use and it keeps the photo shoot interesting when there’s various different looking areas to work with. Another great thing about this location is that it’s always relatively quiet there, it’s just a short walk from the hot spot which is Central Park but not many people seem to venture into Pounds Park. To the general public, it may not look that exciting in Pounds Park but for someone like me, my creative eye sees ample photo opportunities.
We did this shoot in early April and unfortunately Spring has taken a while to spring this year, so some trees and plants were still a bit bare and that limited our options a little bit. None the less, there was still plenty to work with and I adored being able to work in this gorgeous park at last. What made the shoot even more amazing, was the couple themselves who made photo shooting look like a piece of cake. They required very little direction from me as I enjoyed capturing their natural interactions with one another, their chemistry together was a beautiful thing to capture on camera. And I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without talking about Lizzy the dog, who joined us for the shoot. She was a delight to be around, ball crazy, sassy and cute as a button. I was able to get photos of the couple without Lizzy in without any drama and then when it was her time to shine, she was the perfect dogel (dog model).
